Emergency First Response

Emergency First Response is a new, comprehensive and innovative CPR and first aid program that is comprised of two courses, which may be taken together or alone, using the latest medical guidelines set forth in a consensus by the Basic Life Support Working Group of the International Liason Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR).
  • Emergency First Response Primary Care teaches the skills of CPR, and covers care for most life-threatening emergencies. In addition to CPR skills, Rescue Breathing, serious bleeding management, shock management, spinal injury management, and choking emergencies are covered. There are also recommended skills that will be part of our classes, including an introduction to Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) and Emergency Oxygen Use.
  • Emergency First Response Secondary Care covers injuries or illnesses that are not as life-threatening, or when the local EMS is unavailable or delayed. Skills learned include: Injury Assessment, illness Assessment, Bandaging and splinting.
  • Emergency First Reponse Care for Children provides individuals with the additional training necessary to provide emergency care to a sick or injured child. The course content focuses on primary and secondary care for children 1-8 years old and for infants less than one year old.
All courses are available at all Underwater Connection locations.

If you have completed the three courses listed above within the past 24 months, you can become an EFR Instructor.....contact Colin Zylka, our PADI Course Director/EFR Instructor Trainer for details.
